Use an existing dust ruffle as a base for a top layer in a more suitable fabric.

Enhancing a Dust Ruffle

Materials:

dust ruffle
fabric

Steps:

1. Sew together cuts of fabric to get the correct length to cover all three sides and hem one side of each panel, which will touch the floor. Pin pleats in place; pin the panel over the original dust ruffle, and then sew it on. Repeat for the other two sides.

These gauze drapes look fabulous against the bold wall treatment.

Materials:

gauze
satin ribbon
wood rings

Steps:

1. Double the gauze by folding a long piece in half and sew the sides together.
2. After turning the fabric right side out, add ribbon to the top to create a sturdy surface to sew on wood rings (figure A).
